The Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) is a measure of a surfaces ability to reflect soar heat. By using roofing materials with a higher SRI, less heat will be absorbed, resulting in lower cooling costs for the building. According to the EPA, “cool” roofs can save building owners 20-70% in annual cooling energy costs.

A “green” roof adds low-maintenance vegetation to the roof. A vegetated roof will be cooler than a conventional roof and it will also retain storm water, provide insulation benefits, and be aesthetically pleasing.
